I don’t like sourdough. There I said it.
But unlike people who say “I don’t like fish” when there are literally countless species to enjoy with different flavors, textures, and methods for preparation, I am saying this with at least some education.
I understand there are grades of sourdough-loaf quality and that you can use sourdough starter in infinity recipes, from sourdough waffles to sourdough cinnamon buns.
I also want to point out that my husband makes absolutely gorgeous sourdough. He has a beautiful starter (John Dough) and cool accessories like a lame and that Challenger Bread pan to make his loaves unique and extra crusty. He has spent years perfecting his folding and shaping techniques, so I see the work it takes to really make sourdough good. I appreciate it! And yet…
I would prefer to eat other loaves that don’t have that highly coveted sour flavor. Because I don’t really like it.
